Traveler Feedback: -I find it to be very traveler friendly. There is always someone available to help with issues or questions. They work to address and correct concerns - So far everything has been pretty positive with a few learning curves for me. Facility is staffed well and appreciate their CNAs which I am not used to. General Information: Beds: 44 private and semi-private rooms Experience? RN: 1 year minimum, would prefer more CNA: 1 year - ask manager approval for any candidate that has previous hospital experience but has not worked in the hospital setting within the last year. First-time traveler? Yes Patient Types: Any medical diagnosis except primary Cardiac could be seen on this unit. We monitor patients on Med Tele Traveler will routinely work on either Grant 5 or Grant 6 (same level of care spread across 2 separate units) Common diagnoses include but are not limited to: Stroke, COPD, Respiratory issues and illnesses – Flu/PNA/COVID, GI Bleed, Renal Failure (AKI/CKD), Electrolyte imbalance, altered mental status, weakness, non-operable fractures Non-surgical unit Patient Ratios: RN: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6 May vary based on patient acuity, tech support, insulin drips within assignment, etc. CNA: Days 1:10; Nights 1:10 Rarely, due to call-in, nurses may have total care of some less acute patients within their assignments Required Certifications: RN: BLS ACLS NIHSS (preferred) EKG interpretation (preferred) CNA: BLS Skills required: RN: NO more than 6 days RTO (NO HOLIDAYS) is accepted at this time Previous charge experience highly preferred, please include if the traveler has charge experience in offer details and is willing to act as charge Cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), Insulin drips, Heparin drips - training available from charge and educator – does not require manager approval to offer but will be noted in the offer email for CRT if traveler has not done Reading/Interpreting Rhythm strips Trach care, Chest tube management, General Medical Surgical skills (wound care, IVABX, Drain/tube management, IV starts, central line management, etc.) CNA: Proficiency in obtaining vital signs Showering and bathing patients Ambulation Progression of functional status i.e.—getting patients directly to bathroom v. bedside commodes Q 2 hour turning Good communication skills and teamwork Support on the Unit: CNA Charge nurse - will typically not have a patient assignment Phlebotomy? For peripheral blood draws only House Supervisor, 24/7 RT, 24/7 in house Hospitalist, 24/7 PT/OT/ST – dayshift only Unit Resource RN (as staffing allows) – 0700-1900 Charting System/Equipment: Cerner – not required Alaris Pyxis Floating: Traveler will routinely work on either Grant 5 or Grant 6 (same level of care spread across 2 separate units) Potential to float to any area with Med Surg patients (within or below scope) Orientation: 2 Days Hospital orientation 1 shift on the unit Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other Call required: none Holiday Expectations: no Holiday RTO is accepted at this time RTO: Manager approval Other notes: Scrub Color: RN: Any color, must be professional CNA: Any color, must be professional No crocs with holes, no artificial nails, no personal cell phone usage unless on break Parking: Free in designated areas Grant 5 (41 beds)– Is going to require tele nurses now. They are phasing out the MS nurses so it should be posted as such. Ratios will probably be 1:4-5. This is a general medical tele unit.
