Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our medical team. The Radiation Therapist will be responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients with cancer or other medical conditions as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. The successful candidate will have the technical expertise to operate radiation equipment, ensure patient safety, and provide compassionate care throughout the treatment process.
Key Responsibilities:-
Radiation Therapy Administration:
- Prepare and position patients for radiation therapy, ensuring accurate targeting of treatment areas.
- Administer prescribed radiation treatments according to treatment plans developed by the radiation oncologist.
- Operate radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators and imaging devices, to deliver precise radiation doses.
- Monitor patients during treatment to assess their response and ensure safety and comfort.

Patient Care and Communication:
- Establish rapport with patients and provide emotional support throughout their treatment process.
- Explain procedures and provide instructions to patients regarding preparation, side effects, and aftercare.
- Document patient treatment information accurately in medical records.
- Communicate effectively with other healthcare team members, including oncologists, nurses, and physicists.

Quality Control and Safety:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality assurance standards in radiation therapy.
- Ensure proper calibration and functioning of radiation equipment.
- Maintain radiation safety practices to protect patients, staff, and the public from unnecessary exposure.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues to the supervisor or biomedical team.

Patient Positioning and Treatment Verification:
- Utilize imaging technology (e.g., CT, X-ray, or MRI) to verify patient positioning before treatment.
- Review and verify patient treatment plans to ensure proper dose delivery and precision.
- Assist with setting up immobilization devices as needed to ensure stable positioning during treatment.

Collaboration and Documentation:
- Work closely with the radiation oncologist and medical team to assess patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.
- Keep accurate, detailed records of each patient’s treatment history, side effects, and progress.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
