Job Summary
As a CVOR Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing specialized nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative process. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective delivery of cardiovascular surgical interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative process, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative care.
- Assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, and implement interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide expert care to patients undergoing a variety of cardiovascular procedures, including open-heart surgery, valve replacements, coronary artery bypass grafts, and minimally invasive procedures.
- Surgical Expertise:
- Utilize your in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile field and ensure patient safety.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and proactively address potential complications.
- Skillfully manage and operate complex medical equipment and technology within the CVOR, such as heart-lung machines, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
- Collaboration:
- Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the CVOR, working effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues, patients, and families.
- Critical Thinking:
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills to assess patient conditions, identify potential complications, and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Adapt to changing situations and respond effectively to emergent situations.
- Instrumentation and Technology:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of surgical instruments and supplies specific to cardiovascular procedures.
- Proficiently operate and maintain advanced medical equipment and technology within the CVOR, including monitoring devices, surgical instruments, and perfusion equipment.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, surgical procedures, and medication administration.
- Adhere to documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education and Licensure:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Alabama Registered Nurse license.
- AHA ACLS and BLS certifications required.
- PALS certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent CVOR experience.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficient in using Meditech documentation system.
Shift Details:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Weekend Requirement: 24-hour weekend coverage every fourth to fifth weekend.
- Floating Requirement: May float to outpatient OR.
- Call Requirement: Yes, 1 stay late and 1 call night per week.
