**Job Description:**
The Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory therapy services to both inpatients and outpatients
This role involves collaboration with patients, families, peers, physicians, and the healthcare team to assess respiratory needs, plan care, implement, and evaluate therapy in alignment with hospital standards and policies.
- Initiate and monitor mechanical ventilation, both invasive and non-invasive
- Conduct various types of breathing therapy and patient assessments
- Perform postural drainage, percussion, and bronchial hygiene techniques
- Conduct bedside pulmonary function evaluations
- Conduct blood gas puncture, analysis, and maintain the blood gas analyzer
- Respond to cardiac arrest and Rapid Response situations, including performing CPR
- Obtain certification in emergency endotracheal intubation for adult patients after demonstrating competency
- Transport and lift heavy medical gas cylinders
- May be exposed to necessary chemicals, with Safety Data Sheets accessible through hospital resources
- Engage with diverse patient populations, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric groups, as well as those with specific communication, developmental, or cultural needs
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
