Job Summary
As a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating children with speech, language, and swallowing disorders. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including pediatricians, nurses, and other therapists, to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that help children reach their full communication potential.
Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
- Utilize standardized tests, clinical observations, and parent/caregiver reports to gather information and formulate diagnoses.
- Treatment Planning and Implementation:
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on children's specific needs and goals.
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address speech sound disorders, language delays, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and swallowing difficulties.
- Utilize creative and engaging therapy techniques to motivate and encourage children.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with children, families, and colleagues.
- Provide education and counseling to families regarding their child's communication disorder and treatment plan.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Adhere to documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education and Licensure:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current California Speech-Language Pathologist license.
- BLS certification required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric outpatient experience.
- Experience with pediatric speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of pediatric speech-language pathology.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Passion for working with children and their families.
Shift Details:
- 5x8-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM), Monday-Friday.
- No weekends or on-call requirements.
- No floating to other units or facilities.
- Block scheduling is not available.
- RTO Restrictions: 6 shifts allowed per 13-week assignment.
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week. Client can cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
