**Job Title:** Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
**Job Specialty:** Cardiovascular Procedures
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 10-hour day shift, 5 days a week
**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of one year of Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience preferred; special procedures experience preferred.
**License:** State of employment Assistant License or Surgical Technologist Certification required upon hire unless performing Surgical Assistant duties within the scope of another active state license, certification, or registration.
**Certifications:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through CCI; Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES); OR RRT with post-primary certification of Cardiac Interventional Radiography through ARRT.
**Must-Have:**
- Ability to float to any location within sixty miles of the original assignment.
- Ability to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours as per department or facility policy.
- Ability to effectively and safely use equipment, time, personnel, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective delivery of patient care.
**Job Description:**
- Assist physicians in performing a variety of specialized cardiovascular procedures, including diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump operation, and electrophysiology studies.
- Evaluate and document patient status, responding appropriately to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise, competence, and proficiency, exceeding essential job responsibilities according to department standards.
- Participate in performance improvement activities to evaluate care outcomes.
- Effectively handle unexpected results or patient responses by informing the primary healthcare team.
- Troubleshoot and correct recording instrument malfunctions and unusual patient problems.
- Maintain high skill level through participation in continuous quality improvement, in-services, ongoing education, and attendance at 80% of staff meetings.
- Process patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests is completed in accordance with hospital standards.
- Adapt to changing workloads, patient needs, technologies, policies, regulations, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
- Must adjust approach based on patient/family understanding of procedures and deal with different personality types and consciousness levels.
