Full Job Description
As a Travelling Civil Construction Foreman at D. Grimm, Inc., you will be responsible for managing production crews, overseeing on-site project tasks, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring seamless communication with your General Foreman. You'll play a critical role in meeting project timelines and budgets while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across all job sites. GPS experience is required, and OSHA 30 is preferred for this role.

- Production Tasks:
- Oversee crew management to meet or exceed project completion timelines.
- Maintain adherence to project budget and man-hour allocations.
- Plan and execute daily work schedules for the crew.
- Coordinate daily material deliveries (sand, gravel, etc.).
- Lead daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and safety meetings.
- Communicate daily production goals and expectations to the crew.
- Verify delivery tickets and submit them to the office weekly.
- Conduct safety inspections throughout the day.
- Schedule third-party Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) services, such as material testing and construction staking.
- Equipment/Tooling Tasks:
- Ensure equipment inspections are completed by operators every morning before work begins.
- Oversee daily equipment maintenance, including cleaning tracks and greasing machinery before leaving the site.
- Immediately notify the equipment manager of any equipment issues or accidents.
- Manage tooling for daily operations and report large item replacement needs.
- Submit weekly equipment inspection reports for all machines every Monday.
- Operating heavy equipment
- Reporting/Paperwork:
- Submit detailed production reports daily, including a minimum of three photos documenting progress.
- Complete and submit daily JSA forms and crew time sheets.
- Turn in equipment inspection reports to the office every Monday by 10 AM.
- Submit good catch nominations to safety.
- Management/Communication:
- Serve as the point of contact for customer field representatives as needed.
- Communicate regularly with the General Foreman/Construction Manager regarding production, materials, and equipment needs.
- Lead and mentor crew members in safe, efficient work practices.
- Enforce all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Document and report any disciplinary actions or verbal counseling to the office within 24 hours.
- Attend monthly management meetings, either in-person or remotely.
- Submit credit card receipts at the time of purchases.
- Notify the office within 24 hours if an employee quits, is terminated, or is a no-call/no-show for two consecutive days.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Must have a valid driver's license and insurable driving record
- GPS experience is required.
- Ability to check and set grade stakes with an eye level and/or laser.
- OSHA 10 or 30 is preferred.
- Proven experience managing earthwork or heavy civil construction crews.
- Strong understanding of equipment operations, including daily inspections and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read blueprints, production reports, and project documents.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Commitment to safety, quality control, and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience with excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, haul trucks, mini excavators, rollers, compactors, mixers, crushers, mulchers. Finish hand with or without GPS.
- Knowledge of GPS set up and troubleshooting.
