Job Summary
Carries out wildlife harvest planning and curriculum development in partnership with other Tribal programs and community partners. The Program Manager provides updates to the Kenaitze Indian Tribe's Hunting, Fishing and Gathering Commission.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for implementation of Fishery permit, and curriculum.
- Administers the Wildlife Salvage Program
- Responsible for implementation of Educational and Traditional Moose Hunt permits, reporting and curriculum
- Facilitates the application process for educational and cultural hunt permits.
- Responsible for fish distribution and providing required reports to Tribal Self Governance Coordinator on a weekly basis.
- Responsible for documentation of all cultural activities on a daily basis for use in final report to State of Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
- Responsible for development and coordination of new cultural harvest activities
- Preparing designated location for the Tribes' fishery including driving stakes, setting the running lines, etc.
- Maintaining and keeping in good operation all equipment needed in the operation of the Kenaitze Indian Tribes wild life harvest program.
- Keeping all sites neat and clean, safe as well as drug and alcohol free.
- Available on-call as needed for harvest activities
- Assist in hiring seasonal positions
- Attend meetings as required
- Maintain fishery budget
- Submit and process receipts in ReqLogic
- Approve payroll for Harvest Assistants
- Maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, the public and Tribal members.
- Provide education about the Kenaitze Indian Tribe and wildlife harvest programs to visitors
- Responsible for drafting, review, and implementation of the wildlife harvest's policies and procedures

Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in similar traditional harvest programs.
- Experience in fishing gear upkeep and repair, and in fish cleaning and preparation.
- Experience with firearms and firearm safety
License/Certification
- Current Alaska Driver's License and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
Special Skills
- Able and willing to work unusual hours.
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
- Familiarity with both modern and traditional methods of harvesting wild game to include seal, moose, assorted fish, etc.
