**We are located in Durham close to Chapel Hill - this is an ON-SITE role**
Summary:
MUST HAVE: Experience with 706 estate tax return with the ability to complete estate administration as an independent contributor.
The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree, paralegal certificate or commiserate experience.
The candidate must have experience in the preparation of the following:

Summary:

The candidate must have experience in the preparation of the following:
- estate and trust court accountings,
- estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns.
Additionally, the candidate must be self-motivated, deadline driven, detail oriented and possess accounting skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to work as a team player.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in initial client and attorney meetings, establishing facts and gathering personal, financial, and estate planning information.
- Develop, organize, and maintain estate files, including researching and valuing assets and obtaining necessary appraisals.
- Prepare and file legal documents such as qualification documents, petitions, notices, orders, disclaimers, and accountings with the Clerk of Superior Court.
- Assist clients in administering oaths, delivering documents to the court, and managing estate accounts.
- Handle estate-related logistics, including closing accounts, moving assets, arranging appraisals, and conducting safe deposit box inventories.
- Obtain tax identification numbers for estates and trusts and draft legal documents like disclaimers and petitions.
- Maintain docket control, ensure timely filing, and respond to client requests and messages promptly.
- Manage estate account checkbooks, reconcile monthly statements, and prepare inventories and annual/final accounts for the court.
- Travel to courthouses, banks, client homes, and brokerage firms as needed and resolve documentation or verification issues.
- Prepare federal and state estate tax returns, draft receipts and refunding agreements, and calculate final distributions and trust terminations.
