Position Summary:

Incumbent identifies and uses all available follow-up resources while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards to determine patient's most current date of last contact, vital status and disease status for each patient in the UCI Medical Center's Cancer Registry in accordance with standards of the American College of Surgeons (ACOS), Commission on Cancer and the California Cancer Registry (CCR). Duties include generating monthly computer follow-up control lists, reviewing medical records, generating letters or making phone calls to patients, doctors, or relatives, and searching public data bases to gather follow-up data to update status in UCIMC's computerized Cancer Registry System. Other duties include follow-up correspondance, back-up phone coverage, and assisting in casefinding, ordering medical records, coordination of Tumor Board Conferences and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Previous Health Information Management experience
• PC literacy
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must have strong organizational skills
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
