Job Title: Student U Tutor Coordinator

The Work
The Student U Tutor Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating Student U's academic tutorial program. Student U tutoring services are intended to increase academic success, retention, and graduation. The Tutor Coordinator supports the Student U staff with recruitment, training, and support of volunteer tutors and oversees the logistics of the tutoring components of the Middle School and High School program. The Tutor Coordinator will also work closely with Student U's Middle School and High School Program Coordinators, the Director of Academic Support, the Program Director, and members of the part-time staff to ensure all students are engaging with the support they need to be the most successful academic, emotional, and social versions of themselves during the school year. Student U's Tutor Coordinator believes fervently in the brilliance and potential of our students and works to refine a tutoring culture that honors and upholds our values.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the recruitment, training, and support of volunteer tutors:
Act as point person for community partners, professors, and platforms to recruit volunteer tutors
Manage all incoming tutor documentation and data
Support with training for all new and returning tutors
Coordinate, communicate, and manage volunteer tutor schedules and assignments
Ensure volunteer tutors are kept informed of relevant Student U information, schedules, and events
Coordinate and manage high-quality tutoring support at Student U's year-round programs:
Demonstrate the Student U Core Values in all interactions with Student U stakeholders (students, families, guests, volunteers, supporters)
Build relationships, collaborate, and communicate with students, families, and Student U staff in order to support student growth
Middle School Program Responsibilities (Monday/Wednesday):
Engage and collaborate as a member of Student U's Middle School YRP team on Mondays and Wednesdays
Ensure systems are in place for tutors to provide effective academic support for middle school students
Manage overflow homework space for students that need to keep working during free time
Coordinating tutor support during other parts of programming (free time, enrichment) as needed
High School Program Responsibilities (Tuesday/Thursday):
Own the daily logistics of Student U's High School Tutoring space including:
Setting up/breaking down tutoring space
Supervising students and volunteers in the tutoring space
Collecting, distributing and tracking meals for students
Collecting and documenting daily tutoring attendance data
Collaborate with Student U's High School Program Coordinators to create and maintain a tutoring culture and environment that:
Is safe, inviting, accepting, and inclusive
Holds students to high academic expectations
Ensure systems are in place for tutors to provide effective academic support for high school students
Collaborate with Student U staff to evaluate and refine Student U's tutoring programs:
Meet regularly with Student U's Director of Academic Support and Program Coordinators to reflect on tutoring effectiveness for staff and students and problem-solve/program plan as needed
Collect stakeholder feedback (students, tutors, staff) about efficacy of tutoring programs and participate in the larger evaluation of Student U's Year Round Programming
Commitment:
The Tutor Coordinator works 18 hours/week:
Mondays/Wednesdays: 3:00-7:00
Tuesdays/Thursdays: 2:30-7:30
This position runs August 12, 2024-May 31, 2025.

is fluent in Spanish or competent in intermediate Spanish. (Preferred)

has experience tracking and managing data.

is committed to learning, growing and reflecting together to ensure students are gaining academic skills.
has experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
