TYCOM Assistant
Position Summary:
As an Assistant to Naval Surface Force Atlantic Fleet Type Commander (TYCOM), you will provide engineering, technical support, and financial services to Commander Surface Fleet Atlantic (CNSL) Type Commander (TYCOM). You will assist in the management of ship maintenance and modernization.
We are actively recruiting candidates for this position for future work which is expected to start in March 2025.

Clearance Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and Common Access Card (CAC)
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Track, report, analyze, develop and maintain metrics on all facets of maintenance availabilities in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM), CNSL directives, and guidance.
- Work with key stakeholders to develop, coordinate and implement mitigation strategies for identified obstacles and impacts
- Coordinate with other TYCOM Assistants, Type Desk Officers, Type Desk Managers, Program Engineers, Modernization Manager, Availability Work Package Mangers, and Project Managers to recognize and identify financial trends, funding needs, risks and concerns.
- Actively participate in Fleet-wide planning and teleconferences as appropriate to ensure effective and efficient long range class maintenance planning and funding (POM, Mid-life, etc.).
- Ensure that deliverables as required by the position and contract are on time, are of high quality, contain few errors, and contain accurate information.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Engineering Degree desired
- Ten years naval shipboard work experience as military, civil service, or contractor supporting USN surface ship operation and/or maintenance
- Minimum of two years of experience working on staff at a ship maintenance activity
- Two years of experience associated with DDG, LCS, or MCM platform
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication with senior Naval Officers and senior civilian leaders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Physical Demands and Expectations:
- Travel will be required to support this task (up to 25%)
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
- Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
