As a Technical Director, you will be a senior technical member of the central engineering team to design, develop, deploy, and maintain high throughput world class services at global scale for our next generation games
EA’s network of games caters to tens of millions of monthly active users
You'll have the opportunity to build sophisticated platform capabilities handling several hundred-thousand requests per second and driving the player engagement of many of the industry’s most popular titles. What Would You DoArchitect, design & build massively scalable services, solutions, platforms & UI components with stellar performance.Provide technology roadmap & direction for platforms, products, and features.Innovate for simplicity and low maintenanceCollaborate with distributed cross functional teams and deliver amazing experiences to the playersDrive technical excellence amongst team members by coaching and mentoringLead and deliver on company wide technology initiatives in partnership with other architectsProvide accurate estimates on deliverables for yourself and help team on the sameIdentify and mitigate technology risks during early stages of developmentProvide architectural guidance and inputs for Quality Assurance, Load/Performance Testing, Capacity Planning, etc.Review design & code for adherence to architecture, security compliance and coding standardsInstitutionalize & evangelize engineering best practices across teams.Identify the right choice of tools & technologies for solving the problem to minimize time, money and maximize efficiency.The last level in the escalation chain for resolving technical issues Must have SkillsBachelor of Technology or Engineering from a reputed institute12+ years of experience working in Java, J2EE technologies and 8+ years of experience in building highly scalable distributed systems using Microservices architecture.Strong command over Spring, Spring Boot, gRPC, Load Balancing, Caching, Message Buses (Kafka etc.), AWS Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, and other commonly used tools & techniques for building high performance distributed systems on the cloud.Demonstrated experience in designing and deploying high volume, high transaction based, distributed and highly available web applications.Hands-on experience in building rich UI applications using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and libraries (such as React, Angular etc.), HTML and CSS.Hands on experience in leveraging UI tools & testing frameworksDemonstrated ability to architect distributed applications and services on Cloud Platforms using OSS & CNCF standards.Strong Understanding of microservices & event driven patternsExcellent understanding of object-oriented design patterns and design principlesExperience in SQL and NoSQL databases such as RDS, Elasticsearch and CassandraExperience in Kafka, Amazon SNS, Elasticsearch, Redis, etc.Experience & understanding of DevOps including building CI/CD pipelines using Docker, Jenkins/ Gitlab CI & KubernetesExcellent Troubleshooting & root cause analysis skillsSuperb ability to take high level direction, work through ambiguity and drive to execution in an iterative model.Superb ability to translate business requirements into technical design & architecture.Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.Technology enthusiast, always on the lookout for the latest and greatest tools and technologies for solving problems.Highly Desired SkillsExperience with EKS, Terraform, HelmExperience in Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, etc.Experience in building & deploying web applications using service mesh (Istio) leveraging mesh features.Experience in Streaming processing technologies – Kafka Streams, Flink etc. What’s in it for you? Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA
We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to temporary full-time employees scheduled to work full time.
