Role Description:
Candidate will join a high-functioning, in-flight agile team that is enhancing an existing customer-facing web application. The candidate will share Solution Architect responsibility with an existing team member. The project's work is to overhaul and modernize the web application's front end using OneAmerica's UI stack which includes HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Backbone.js, and Marionette.js.
Approximately 80 - 90% of the candidate's time will be spent designing the Web application and determining technical solutions, and 10 – 20% coding.
Essential Functions:
• Assess business and technical requirements and determine best technical solution
• Defines reference architecture aligned with IT technology standards
• Develop technical roadmaps for the web application
• Advocates for the use of new approaches and technologies as appropriate
• Collaborate with Agile team members, including product owner and developers
• Guide developers, assist in breaking work into individual tasks, and mentor developers
• Produce technical documentation and diagrams
• Ensure best practices are followed for web development
• Participate in team meetings
• Perform peer reviews of co-worker artifacts, e.g., code reviews
• Code solutions for some stories/tasks

Must Have:
• Solution design: the activities involved in conceptualizing, defining, architecting, and ultimately designing complex web applications
• Ability to apply industry standards and assess compliance with those standards
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Thorough understanding of web application development and systems integration
• Knowledge of Java and full UI stack (HTML, CSS, JavaScript); expert in at least one of these
• Knowledge and experience in HTTP, Service oriented architecture (SOA), SQL and relational database design, and REST.
• Ajax

• Hands-on skills with network and Web security solutions (OWASP).
• Knowledge in Governance, Compliance and Risk (GRC) space
• Experienced member of an Agile team; strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to interface effectively with vendors and service providers for product/service evaluation and service level agreements.
• IBM WCM experience a plus
Nice to Have:
• Backbone.js and Marionette.js experience highly preferred
• BitBucket, Bootstrap, Handlebars
Education requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area; formal training in software development languages and techniques.
