Schedule: Two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts weekly, with weekend, holiday, and weekday call rotations.
Job Summary:
Virtus Healthcare Staffing seeks a dedicated Ultrasound Sonographer Reg I to join our partner hospital in West Reading, PA. The Sonographer will perform ultrasound procedures according to established protocols to provide diagnostic information as ordered by a licensed physician or healthcare provider. This role requires attention to detail, compassionate patient care, and adherence to professional and ethical standards.
The Ultrasound Sonographer will educate patients about the procedure, address their concerns, and deliver high-quality care in a respectful and non-discriminatory manner. The Sonographer will also engage in continuous learning to maintain competence and certification in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Explain the purpose and process of the ultrasound to patients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- Utilize professional and ethical judgment to ensure the highest standard of care, treating each patient with respect and dignity.
- Conduct diverse imaging procedures across the spectrum of sonography, including abdominal, obstetric, vascular, and other specialized imaging.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all procedures and patient information within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive diagnostic evaluation.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain certification, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of new techniques, advancements, and credentials.
- Participate in the weekend, holiday, and weekday call rotations to ensure consistent care availability for patients.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including infection control, radiation safety, and patient safety guidelines.
Schedule:
- Two 8-hour shifts (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Two 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM
- Every 4th weekend: 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM shift
- Holiday rotation and weekday call rotation included
Qualifications:
Education:
- Post High School Diploma Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field (Required)
Experience:
- Relevant experience in diagnostic medical sonography is preferred.
Certification & Licensure:
- BLS Certification (Required)
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification in Obstetrics (OB) or Abdominal (AB) and Vascular (RVT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Sonography RT(S) and RT(VS) (Required)
- For new graduates, ARDMS or ARRT (S) is required, with Vascular certification to be achieved within 24 months of graduation.
- Experienced Sonographers (2+ years) must obtain Vascular certification within 12 months of hire.
