Position Summary
Performs routine and some special procedure imaging, diagnostic and medical sonograms. Prepares patient for procedures. Assists Radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates and cares for the equipment being used. Develops/processes films when needed. Adheres to established radiology "standards of care . Obtains appropriate continuing education. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to outpatient facility-wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned such as quality assurance. Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures. Provides patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
1. Understands and adheres to the Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
2. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires.
3. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produces good technical images.
4. Assist physicians during practice-based procedures as necessary.
5. Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, orders supplies.
6. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department. Will be required to work "on- call at Armonk Urgi-Center and may be required to work at other outpatient sites on holidays, overtime and/or day, evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage.
7. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med and/or supervisor.
8. Processes CD's, or print pictures if needed.
9. Performs routine office tasks, such as answering phones, checking-in patients, obtaining previous reports/films, or other related duties as needed.
10. Shows radiologist all images and calls reports to the attending physician and documents communication if necessary.
11. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor.
12. Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the WPH's behavioral standards.
13. Will introduce him/her and educate the patient and/or family member regarding the examination that is ordered.
14. Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults and geriatric groups.
15. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
16. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the offsite practices.
17. Coverage rotation to other outpatient off-sites.
18. Position is eligible for certification incentive.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Completion of a certified ultrasound program or Limited Permit/certificate.
- (ARDMS) eligibility after 1 year from graduation and 1000 clinical hours) for students.
- ARDMS required for ACR accreditation compliance after January 1, 2019 or ARRT (s) or RT (VS)
- Experience preferred.
- Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification.
- BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 days of hire.
