Job Summary and QualificationsThe sonographer primarily supports ultrasound services in Women’s & Children’s Hospital with occasional support to Tower ultrasound department. The sonographer performs exams such as OB/GYN, high risk OB, general diagnostic ultrasound in adults, pediatric and neonatal patients
What you will do in this role:
- You will perform ultrasound exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring high-quality care.
- You will competently use all ultrasound machines, including GE Voluson E6, GE Logiq VS10, and GE Logiq S8.
- You will be familiar with exams in the service line, including OB/GYN, high-risk OB, neonatal neuro, and general adult and pediatric ultrasound.
- You will perform routine cleaning and maintenance of probes according to specifications.
- You will comply with quarterly targeted metrics, such as Kronos, HealthStream, and PACS.
- You will take patient history and retrieve any necessary orders or prior images.
- You will provide patient history, signs, and symptoms relevant to the exam to the radiologist and/or perinatologist.
- You will appropriately complete all required documentation.
- You will coordinate patient flow and check the daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
- You will inform patients about the procedure and answer any questions they may have.
- You will interact and professionally communicate with physicians, patients, and family members.
- You will contribute to after-hours coverage through on-call shift rotations as needed.
- You will contribute to holiday coverage through rotation (one warm and one cold weather holiday).
- You will maintain all required licenses, certifications, and accreditations as outlined in the job qualifications.
- You will be responsible for the daily upkeep of departmental work areas, including cleaning and stocking.
- You will promote customer service initiatives by adhering to ICARE values.
- You will support and participate in quality improvement (QI) and performance improvement (PI) plans.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- You will perform other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
1. Graduate of accredited RDMS program required.
2. ARDMS (OB and Abdomen registered, or registry eligible with successful completion within 6 months of hire)
3. 1 year of specialty experience in OB ultrasound preferred.
4. 6 months of pediatric experience is preferred.
5. Vascular experience preferred.
6. Current BLS.
