This position will be the lead in the Accounting Operations unit with particular focus on Pension Risk Transfer business (checks and escheat), audit request compilations and verifications, 1099 process and reconciliation for all accounts payable vendors, municipality tax monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and processing EFT files and printing checks as needed for all companies.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all transactions and research related to Pension Risk Transfer business; the timely processing of checks, escheat, assisting cash management team with review and resolution of rejected EFTs and returned checks, and working with ASD to research other Pension Risk Transfer issues that develop. Process in Tracker all state escheat filings and remittance reports based on state regulatory requirements. Update Tracker records to reflect all general ledger entries to the escheat account. Responsible for verifying that communication to payees is produced per regulatory requirements. Responsible for preparing monthly bank reconciliation for the Wells Fargo Pension Risk Transfer accounts; responsible for communicating any issues or complaints related to pension checks to management; responsible for working with cash management staff daily to ensure adequate funding for pension checks and EFTs.
- Coordinate Accounting Operations 1099s review and reconciliation at mid-year and year end and work with ASD and Sovos to ensure 1099s for vendors are correct and processed timely. Attend 1099 meetings as scheduled by the Tax Coordinator.
- Ensure the completion of municipality tax returns monthly, quarterly and annually and work with IT department, Positax and Tax department to ensure tax forms are completed on time and municipalities are filed timely dependent on the jurisdiction.
- Compile audit request data as assigned by management such as state audit and special projects such as Kelmar audit.
- Oversee and act as the point person for any issues related to check and EFT file processing and reconciliation to source systems. Monitor check printing hardware, software and supplies and communicate any problems or requirements to management on a timely basis.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation for assigned bank and suspense accounts. Make necessary adjusting entries to clear outstanding items.
- Prepare all state escheat filings and remittance reports based on state regulatory requirements for Banner, Penn and LGA checks. Update Tracker records to reflect all general ledger entries to the escheat account. Reconcile monthly.
- Verify all new vendors are verified in Bridger and that required forms (such as W9) are all on file.
- Prepare bank fee allocation analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
High School diploma or equivalent, some college accounting courses preferred
Experience/Knowledge
3-5 years accounting experience or equivalent college courses
Insurance experience preferred, not required
Skills
Problem solving ability, highly organized, detailed
Strong project management

Ability to work calculator
Knowledge of basic Excel functions
General systems knowledge
Excellent communication skills – Ability to communicate well with all levels
Epicor and Doclink experience preferred, but not required

Schedule is 7am to 3:30pm.
The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $59,600 - $79,700 annually. This role will be hybrid with 3 days per week in office.
The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses. This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 3% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date. This role has 10 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
