What you’ll be doing::Within established binding authority, analyze insurance submissions, recognize exposures, provide coverage alternatives, offer risk management suggestions, and adequately price insurance coverage on accounts of small to medium size and low complexity within company underwriting guidelines. Achieve corporate goals by reviewing account characteristics and taking appropriate action. Develop knowledge of insurance issues, products, trends in the market, and pricing principles. Foster positive business relationships with internal and external customers
On any given day, you’ll::- Within established binding authority and in compliance with filings, write and retain business to meet corporate objectives.
- Using various sources of information, analyze, evaluate, make, and document decisions to achieve desired underwriting results of transactions on small to medium size accounts.
- Recognize exposures to loss, identify coverage alternatives, develop risk management recommendations, and adequately price to an expected profitability level. Negotiate solutions, keeping the customer in mind. Decline/nonrenew business not meeting standards.
- Communicate with supervisor on issues exceeding binding authority and territory issues.
- Develop and maintain an effective business relationship with the sales force. Answer questions within abilities and authority: research, gather, and disseminate information to help service customers; and offer suggestions on options and alternative approaches to coverage, pricing, and risk management.
- Develop underwriting knowledge through an awareness of changes within the Underwriting Department, understanding CM Group, insurance industry coverages, policy forms, and operations specific to our niches.
- Develop an understanding of insurance issues, products, trends in the market, and pricing principles.
- Focus to meet customer expectations through meeting department timeliness expectations, assisting in territories as needed, and positive interactions with all customers (including Sales, Technical Support, and other departments).
Underwriter II
- Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. Associate in Underwriting designation or successful completion of two Chartered Property Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) courses may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a property and casualty insurance company in underwriting.
- Sufficient knowledge of the underwriting function, insurance coverages, and principles, including reinsurance application and administration.
- Exhibits the ability to identify and analyze exposures, recognize areas of concern, and develop appropriate solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions outside parameter-based situations but within binding authority.
- Proven ability to explain decisions to others and negotiate appropriate solutions.
- Solid organizational skills.
- Demonstrated desire and commitment to learn, accept new challenges, and strive for personal improvement/growth.
- Support others by acting as a resource and sharing basic underwriting knowledge.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships throughout the company.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others professionally, respectfully, and timely.
- Ability to learn CM Group computer systems and stay current with changes.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment to accomplish established goals.

Exact compensation will vary based on consideration of a variety of factors including education, skills, experience, and location.
Minimum Compensation:USD $69,000.00/Yr.Maximum Compensation:USD $103,500.00/Yr.
