Job Summary
The un'ina navigator is the single point of contact for an un'ina regarding coverage of services at the Dena'ina Wellness Center. The un'ina navigator assists with application for alternate resources and process purchase/referred care claims. Provides excellent customer service to un'ina and external customers.
Essential Functions
- Work collaboratively with un'ina to explore options for financial assistance for medical services.
- Assists un'ina and families with applying and renewing applications for alternate resources to pay for medical care.
- Perform verification of insurance, Medicaid, Denali Kid Care, Medicare, etc. for scheduled appointments
- Reconcile and process vendor invoices (ANTHC, Quest, City of Kenai, North Star Medical Imaging, Kenai Peninsula Borough, Procare, etc.)
- Be the point of contact for un'ina and families, answering questions regarding purchase/referred care, and insurance.
- Participate in the purchase/referred care workgroup, with timely follow up to un'ina regarding the workgroups decision.
- Communicate directly with the un'ina regarding the purchase/referred care process.

Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience
- One (1) year experience in a medical office
- One (1) year experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, Denali Kid Care, application process.
- One (1) year experience working on verifying alternate payor sources
- One (1) year experience customer service
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
License/Certification
- Must have a valid Alaska State Driver's License and remain insurable under the Tribe's policy or obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Must have BLS/CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of hire

- Be familiar with alternative payment resource options.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, health professionals, and un'ina.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
- Knowledge and understanding of HIPPA and 42 CFR.
