Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Unit Coordinator to join our team! The Unit Coordinator will work under the supervision of a nurse or provider to deliver patient care to emergency room patients. This includes preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, obtaining specimens, setting-up rooms with necessary supplies and equipment and assisting physicians and nurses during treatments. Responsible for the written records and reports which comprise the patient’s medical record, maintaining chart forms for physician and nursing personnel, and filing reports from ancillary departments pertaining to each patient.
Compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care.
This is a Full-Time position (PT available).

Responsibilities:- EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic will be able to safely and precisely access the venous circulation and after didactic and practical modules taught by the laboratory, will draw appropriate laboratory studies per protocol.
- Applies temporary splints in accordance to provided training.
- Provides patients with Crutch use instructions.
- Obtains EKGs, Vital Signs, Visual Acuity, applies simple dressings and assists with ambulation/ care of patient under the delegation of the Primary RN
- Arranges ambulance for transfers, copies and assembles all documentation for admissions or transfers
- Emergency Department Technicians who have a valid Vermont Emergency Medical Services license, may work up to the scope of practice equal to that EMS licensure while under the supervision of a provider or the delegation of a Registered Nurse
- Answers phone and refer calls to appropriate staff.
- Ability to perform Quick-Registration in CPSI to register ED patients, if necessary
- Assess patient changes in condition and reports to nurse
- Complete required continuous training and education including department specific requirements.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served within the unit.
- Familiar with simple medical laws and ethics, i.e. consents, confidentiality, etc.
- Knowledge of all policies and procedures regarding admitting, transferring and discharge of patients.
- Maintain work area and ED Waiting Room in an appropriate manner.
- Maintains departmental policy and procedure manuals and unit files.
- Maintains sufficient supplies needed for smooth operation of the unit. Avoids waste, utilizes time and supplies efficiently.
- Maintains ancillary department reports, scans into medical record as appropriate.
- Obtain Medical Records from Health Information Dept. and other facilities as needed.
- Order and maintain supplies for ED
- Orders proper tests from ancillary departments such as Lab, X-Ray, EKG, and Respiratory as noted on the patient’s chart.
- Orients new employees to the unit.
- Performance reflects current knowledge of emergency procedures, medical terminology.
- Sets up trays / assists with procedures within scope of practice.
- Shows flexibility in hours to reflect census
- Transports or escorts patients to examination area, treatment rooms, nursing units, the morgue, etc.
- Advanced EMT/Paramedic, after successful completion of a telemetry course including didactic and practical modules, will safely transport stable patients requiring telemetry throughout the hospital and remain with patients during diagnostic testing, per protocol.
Education Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent
License and Certification Requirements:
- Licensed Nursing Assistant - OR - Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); CPR Certification
