Southtowns Care Center is actively seeking a motivated and dedicated Full-Time Unit Secretary for our Skilled Nursing Facility in Buffalo, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a pleasant and courteous demeanor on the phone and in person with outstanding general clerical skills. The Unit Secretary will have frequent contact with residents, resident families, visitors, staff, and management personnel.

DUTIES:

·         Assisting patients when they arrive at the department for care.

·         Fielding phone calls to the unit.

·         Scheduling appointments with the healthcare providers within the unit.

·         Working with other departments to coordinate care services.

• Basic administrative office functions; filing & data entry.
• Typing reports & correspondence as required, Assisting with the admissions/discharge process.
• Scheduling appointments for Residents when needed.
• Initiating & coordinating transportation approvals & schedules.
• Relaying vital information to Nursing Staff & Medical Team.
• Maintain medical records as per protocol, file medical charts as required.
• Provide unit staff with employee manuals & forms.
• Inventories unit/office supplies & performs all other related duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
• Pleasant phone manner & strong computer skills
• Solid organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment
• Should be friendly and a team worker
• Positive attitude and energy is a must.
• Dependable and willing to work
