Job Summary

Provides clerical support on the Inpatient behavioral Health Unit. Possesses excellent interpersonal and administrative skills. Acts as a receptionist and provides information as necessary utilizing proper telephone etiquette. Communicates all pertinent information to appropriate personnel. Seeks opportunities to assist others in their work to help improve outcomes.

Demonstrates ability to work with the psychiatric population.

Essential Functions

• Supports patient care delivery by providing clerical service.
• Maintains patient’s charts from admission to discharge.
• Maintains unit supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
• Welcomes visitors by greeting visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering inquiries; relaying calls to patients; giving directions; referring inquiries to nursing and physician staff
• Keeps unit equipment operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedure; calling for repairs.
• Reviews patient’s court papers for accuracy.
• Coordinates with externa legal system to assure necessary documentation is prepared for bi-weekly court hearings.
• Logs in dates and times of patient’s court papers and maintains the binder.
• Scans and emails patient’s court papers to the courthouse for their commitments.
• Communicates with staff at the courthouse if any issues arise with the court papers.
• Notifies support services of unit issues related to housekeeping or facilities maintenance.
• Orients new unit secretaries.

Minimum Education/Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Work Experience
One year of experience preferred.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday; two rotating weekends a month.
