JOB SUMMARY

The Surgical unit has 41 private rooms and is located on the third floor. This unit cares for patients who are above 17 years of age who require medical/surgical nursing care. The primary population served is surgical to include but not limited to: orthopedics, bariatrics, vascular, neurology and general surgery. This unit also serves general medical patients with diagnosis including but not limited to: sepsis, respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, skin and wound conditions and infections. Modified primary nursing is the care delivery model utilized and includes the following team members: Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Case Managers, Discharge Planners, Social Workers and Unit Secretary. The team is also supported by a unit-based Pharmacist, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, and an Unit-based Educator. This position is responsible for supporting the operations of the patient care unit by providing clerical duties and communications activities. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Process (PIP) at Blessing Hospital.

Education/Training/Experience:

REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
