Job Description Summary
The Energy Management Technician reports to the Energy Management Trades Manager working in the Facilities Response Center (FRC). Under limited supervision from the Energy Management Trades Manager, the Energy Management Technician is responsible for receiving maintenance requests and trouble calls from across the campus as well as monitoring and operation of the campus building controls systems and monitoring of campus fire alarm systems. The FRC operates 24 hours/day and this position requires working various shifts to cover operation schedules. During emergency utility outages and other emergency situations, may make decisions which have a direct effect on hospital patient life safety, research, and lab animal welfare. Performs other related and unrelated duties as required.Entity

Job Summary:

Job Responsibilities:
30% - Continuously monitor and serve as Control System Operator for University and Hospital JCI Metasys building control systems. Act on system alarms and interact with field technicians to resolve issues and maintain operations.
30% - Serve as FRC operator answering facilities related telephone calls from across the campus and respond by making corrective actions in Metasys and/or generating appropriate work orders within the work order system for response by shops.
20% - Monitor central reporting of campus fire alarm systems and notify personnel for emergency response in the event of an alarm. Coordinate radio communications during response to alarms.
20% - Follow published Engineering & Facilities department standard operating policies and procedures for consistent and effective operation of the FRC.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and three years trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Some positions require a commercial driver's license. Some positions require EPA-approved freon recovery certification.
