Combinations of areas of clinical expertise are welcome, and we encourage interdisciplinary and diverse perspectives.
Ideally, we seek a collegial individual who either has a terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities (Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.) or a post-professional occupational therapy doctorate (OTD) with a National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities. This is a non-tenured track faculty position with a salary and rank commensurate with qualifications. The candidate will also need to seek a license or be eligible for licensure in South Carolina (or compact) in addition to their state of residence.

- Mentors all hybrid OTD faculty in the development of syllabi, including the construction of objectives and learning activities.
- Reviews all hybrid course syllabi to ensure alignment with the residential program and coordinates the institutional review with the residential program.
- Coordinates class schedules and in-person labs to optimize the learning experience.
- Ensures that curriculum review is ongoing, collaborating with the Residential Assistant PD to culminate in one OTD Division Annual Curriculum Review.
- Synthesizes hybrid faculty input regarding hybrid-format curricular issues.
- Selects topics and current issues as recommended by faculty or indicated by professional trends.
- Reports all curriculum activities as an agenda item in each faculty meeting.
- Provides oversight and leadership to the OTD Curriculum committee to the following components of the program assessment plan and accreditation required self-study report, including Curriculum Plan/Academic Curriculum, Clinical Education Curriculum, and Program Resources.
- Ensures all program policies, procedures, and practices associated with the curriculum align with accreditation and institutional policies and procedures.
Specifically, the Assistant Director will support the hybrid-format director and is responsible for all hybrid-format curricular program planning, implementation, and review processes. The Assistant Director works as the OTD Curriculum Coordinator and serves as Chair of this committee for the OTD-hybrid program. They must have a record of working collaboratively, as they will work closely with the residential program to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated curriculum across both formats based on foundational documents, best evidence, and contemporary clinical practice.
Candidates for Associate Professor or Professor must have a proven and strong track record of scholarship, graduate student advising and teaching at the Doctoral level, and preferably some research funding. Additionally, the successful candidate will understand higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in Occupational therapy and knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting the profession of Occupational therapy within the United States. We seek candidates at the forefront of driving Occupational therapy education forward by implementing innovative teaching models that empower student learning.
