Midas Hospitality is seeking a Supervisor for the UPBAR at the Element by Westin Forest Park to join our team. The UPBAR is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and connect, laugh and lounge, meet up with old friends and make new ones. This rooftop bar, has two outdoor patios, a view of the arch, tasty appetizers and fascinating cocktails.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Leads by example while adhering to all bar standards
- Maintains an upbeat personality, smile, high energy and being a team player
- Shares involvement with manager in recruitment, interviewing and retention of Bartenders
- Facilitates the implementation of company learning/training programs
- Monitors daily use of Service Standards and F&B Recipes
- Trains and retrains bar servers. barbacks, and kitchen attendants as needed
- Logs and maintains waste/spill log
- Logs and maintains food waste
- Logs and maintains breakage log
- Conducts daily opening and closing checklists completions
- Coaches bar servers on maintaining service standards and menu knowledge
- Coaches kitchen attendants on maintaining quality of food
- Performs kitchen audits
- Performs weekly food inventory
- Performs weekly bar supplies and glassware inventory
- Ensures Kitchen Prep Procedures are being followed and assists for establishing par levels
- Follows up on proper maintenance of all equipment (coolers, frozen drink machines, tools, etc.)
- Maintains fresh ingredients in the kitchen
- Maintains, operates, cleans and tests the equipment
- Participates in a team environment that promotes sales and service success
- Commits to maintain the culture through the evolution of the business
- Attends all restaurant-related meetings and training sessions, and apply learned skills on the job
- Declares all tips as required by law and ensures all bartenders adhere to tip policy.
- Receives and implements feedback and coaching
- Possesses complete knowledge of all food and beverage menus - including ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation
- Maintains spreadsheet recipes for all prepared drinks and cocktails
- Possesses competent knowledge of food, beer, wine, and spirits
- Possesses complete knowledge and application of all Hospitality Standards
- Balances service between bar top Guests and the service well
- Practices and coaches proper cash handling and proper operation of the point-of-sale system
- Practices and coaches the continuous updating of guest tabs
- Maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for all team members and Guests
- Maintains proper stock levels (including inventory control and ordering) of perishables and spirits according to projected business
- Implements the Seasonal Food and Cocktail Program timely and properly
- Participates in the creation of Fresh Cocktails and Food items
- Participates in ordering and setting Par levels
- Meets with vendors
- Participates in employee scheduling
- Stores all product and keeps organized liquor/beer and wine rooms clean and organized
- Follows up with Daily, Weekly and Monthly Cleaning checklists
- Verifies proper government-issued identification of Guests when alcohol is ordered as required by state and federal law
- Adheres to Company and hotel policies and procedures
- Performs all other duties as asked or required by property managers and/or corporate managers
- Sends reports to corporate as requested
The Ideal Candidate:
- Must meet minimum age for preparing and serving alcoholic beverages
- Must have at least one year as head bartender or bar supervisor
- Two years of bartending or related experience in a full-service restaurant
- High School diploma or GED
- Must have current food handler's card and alcohol service certification as required by federal/state/local law
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a consistent basis
- Frequent bending and twisting on a consistent basis
- Routine standing for entire shift for 8 hours
- Maneuvering of hand cart, blenders, knives, slicers, wine keys, and other tools listed in the training manual
