GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The primary responsibility of the Urodynamic Coordinator is to perform Urodynamic testing.
DUTIES:
- Performs tests with high degree of precision to ensure accurate diagnosis.
- May use electromyography to capture information from the bladder - this requires placing electrodes on the patient.
- Be comfortable collecting urine specimens and placing urethral catheters on male and female patients.
- Responsibilities include maintaining the status of equipment and supplies.
- Remain professional and focused to ensure cooperation with the patient, physician and other staff members.
- Responsible for patient care, e.g., getting patients in rooms in a timely and professional manner and taking vital signs, weights, and urine specimens.
- Instruct patient on preparations of tests and procedures.
- Prepare patient for procedures.
- Clean and sterilize equipment after use and prepare it for its next use.
- Order and maintain adequate stock of supplies.
- Cooperate and assist other staff as needed within their scope of practice.
- Maintains a professional attitude toward patients, visitors, and other staff.
- Communicates with providers regarding patient condition and plan of care.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of organization policies and procedures to administer patient care.
- Working knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited CMA/RMA/LPN school
- Urodynamic or Urology experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Graduate of an accredited school for either CMA/RMA/LPN
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
- Urodynamics/Urology 1-2 years
- Clinical administration skills
- Electronic Medical Record Experience
- Minimum of one-two years of professional experience in a medical practice
