Utility Billing Bookkeeper

Location: Okemos, MI
Pay Rate: $40,000 - $50,000
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
Work Environment: In-office everyday

Job Responsibilities:

1. Cash Receipts for Utility and Tax Bills:

   • Handle cash/checks, processing up to 200 transactions per day during busy seasons
   • Manage large sums, with daily totals potentially reaching up to $1 million.
   • Work alongside a supportive team during high-volume periods.

2. Customer Service and Front Desk Duties:

   • Answer phones, respond to emails, and assist residents at the front counter.
   • Address customer concerns about bills
   • Engage in heavy customer service duties, including managing approximately 20 calls per day.
   • Rotate front desk duties with colleagues, and greet and assist residents in-person.

3. Daily Balancing and Deposits:

   • Balance cash drawers daily and prepare deposits, with supervision provided.

Qualifications:

• Required:

  • Experience handling large transactions (50/day for AP or AR) and large dollar amounts
  • At least 1 year of experience in AP/AR or bookkeeping.
  • Proficient in data entry and strong customer service skills.

• Preferred:

  • Experience with BS&A software.
  • Degree in a related field.
  • Previous experience in utility billing, bookkeeping, or working with municipalities/public works.
