Duties, Responsibilities & Other:Required:
- Experience working with MicroStation/GEOPAK/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD
- Proficiency with NCDOT Highway Construction Plans reading
- Familiar with NCDOT processes and standards, especially Utilities Accommodations Manual (UAM)
- Experience with utility design, coordination, and utility construction methods
- Experience identifying & documenting Utility Conflicts
- Experience providing drafting assistance, revision, and QA/QC of Relocation Designs from Utility Owners
- Experience preparing Utilities by Others (UBO)
- Experience monitoring project schedules and coordination with owners for scheduling utility relocations
- Attending project progress meetings to provide status on utility coordination efforts
- Field Visits to identify/assess/document existing utility facilities
- Collaborate with other Departments involved with project development
Preferred:
- Experience with managing multiple complex utility projects
- Collaboration with Environmental Team to determine Wetland Permitting/Mitigation/Clearing Needs
- Experience assessing Utility Relocation Cost Responsibilities
- Drafting Assistance, Revision, QA/QC, and facilitates the execution of Encroachment Agreements & URAs between utility owners and NCDOT
- Experience researching & analyzing utility records, prior rights, and existing utility agreements
- Scheduling/leading on-site Utility Kick-Off meetings
- Preparing Special Provisions & Relocation Schedules
- Coordinate with NCDOT Personnel, Consultant Firms, & Utility Owners to Provide Project Updates, Progress Reports, & Finalized Submittals
- Experience preparing Utility Clearing/Grubbing Plans and Utility Priority ROW Plans
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma. AA in engineering technology or drafting required or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of professional experience.
- Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
Performance Expectations:
- Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
- Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
- Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
- Complete other duties as required/assigned
- Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(85% typical)
- Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
- Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
- Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
- Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
- Compare field data to base plan
- Design and draft construction drawings using standard engineering fundamentals for approval by Federal, state and local agencies
- Gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
- Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job
- Review and interpret design manuals and details from local jurisdictions
- Size and specify design requirements
- Complete Annual Individual Training Program
