Description:
Share your perspective and insights throughout the entire product design cycle, including the ideation/planning, development, and post-deployment stages.
Gather and interpret product feedback from internal stakeholders, team members and users via user testing results
Act as "go to with in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices and standards. Use research-related services, theories and methods to support your recommendations
Align your work to UX and business requirements for each stage of the product design cycle and work closely with a cross-functional team that may include QA Analysts, Technical Designers, UX designers, Visual Designers, Developers, Lead Developers, Architects, Product Managers, Program Managers, Business Owners and Subject Matter Experts
Building documents that define functionality, content, navigation, and interaction models through wireframes, sitemaps, process flowcharts, page description diagrams and other documentation.
Sketch and present UI concepts, including visual design and behaviors with paper sketches, wireframes, task/workflows, simple working prototypes, or whatever form best communicates your ideas and ability to explain why a design works or why it doesn't
Solve cross-disciplinary design challenges and create elegant solutions to complex workflows with creativity, efficiency and precision
Adhere to style guidelines and UX best practices
Identify key areas throughout the site that can be enhanced, continually make recommendations for improvements across the entire customer experience.
Ability to do on-the-spot (as well as detailed) reviews of functionality and visual look & feel of implemented screens against design comps and functional specs.
Adhere to release and sprint schedules established by Pearson's program management team and use Pearson's project management solution (currently Rally) to track all Project deliverables
Act as the user-advocate during the development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing or expert review, and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centered perspective
Collect and synthesize information from a variety of sources to create informed decisions and design recommendations. Collaborate on user research and usability studies to understand customer behavior, refine design approaches, and validate solutions.
Be a champion for the end user and consider and prioritize for their wide range of needs
Incorporate both quantitative and qualitative user testing and analytics into the decision- making and product roadmapping processes.
Required Skills:
Over 4 years professional experience helping build digital products and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Agile/Scrum Experience: Being able to work in a highly iterative, fastpaced Agile environment with product owners, scrum masters,architects and developers. Ability to present larger, conceptual vision
work in a way that can be broken down into sprints and still make a cohesive product.
Extensive knowledge and experience with user interface design patterns and standard as well as contemporary UCD methodologies and best practices
Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and associated design tools such as Omnigraffle; familiarity navigating files and assets
Creativity grounded in critical thinking and the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations, either at the macro or micro levels, has exquisite communication, collaboration, attention to details, and strategic thinking skills
Resourceful and flexible, with exceptional teamwork skills and demonstrated leadership ability often without explicit requirements and direction
Deep product/iterative experience with a large-scale mobile application
Artistically opinionated-- can describe and defend design choices
The ability to understand the relationships between design, business, brand and technology.
Exhibit strong, well-formed opinions about what makes for a good user experience.
Ability to openly receive direction and process constructive criticism is required
Education:
Experience in education or related field or BA in Graphic Design, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors or related field from an accredited university.
