BMSS Advisors & CPAs is looking for an Experienced Valuation Analyst/Forensic Accountant who values cultivating relationships to join our Advisory team. BMSS was established in Birmingham in 1991 and has grown to become a top 100 advisory and CPA firm in the U.S. We have four locations in Alabama (Hoover, Downtown Birmingham, Gadsden, Huntsville) as well as one in Mississippi (Ridgeland). This position can be based out of any of our locations.
Our services include tax planning, compliance and assurance, merger, and acquisition, advisory, wealth management, accounting services, payroll, and IT Support. BMSS strives to give all clients "peace of mind" and believes in exceptional client experience.
What you'll be doing:
As an experienced valuation analyst/forensic accountant, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert financial analysis and valuation services to support clients in various legal and financial scenarios. The position is both communication and analytically intensive. Analysts are directly involved in research, financial modeling and analysis, report writing, client communication, travel, internal systems development, and practice development.
Skills needed to be successful:
Required:
- BS in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Strong written communication skills.
- Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Suite of Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience conducting business valuations and preparing detailed financial models
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate as part of a team, as well as with clients, attorneys, and other advisors to provide business valuation and forensic accounting services including testimony, preparing reports, and assisting in the resolution of financial disputes.
- Calculate the fair market value of business interests in shareholder disputes, considering minority and controlling interests, in addition to gift and estate matters, M&A engagements, financial reporting, and various other situations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Work closely with clients to understand their specific needs, provide expert advice, and deliver high-quality valuation reports and forensic accounting solutions tailored to their requirements.
- Conduct research, data analysis, and interviews to gather information
- Analyzing financial statements
- Financial modeling and analysis
- Prepare analysis, schedules, and initial drafts of report narratives.
