Overview:
Marzetti Company is a CPG Food Manufacturing Company specializing in Sauces, Salad Dressings, and Baked Food Products for Retail and Food Service markets. The Value Stream Manager leads and integrates the efforts of the operations teams to orchestrate the plant resources across multiple shifts and assure quality product is safely manufactured in sanitary conditions. They are responsible for managing plant operations teams within cost goals and produce sufficient quantities to meet our customer's demands with motivated and engaged Associates.
The Value Stream Manager is responsible for Associate engagement and effectively facilitates team meetings, coordinates communications within the production lines and across shifts. They have a thorough technical understanding and mastery of MOE/TPM, daily management systems and process controls for their lines. Continuous improvement is a key aspect of this role. It will be accomplished through developing and maintaining an organization that demonstrates improvement by continuously driving faults lower.
The Value Stream Manager champions the Company Principles by acting as a partner with the Plant Director and other department heads in nurturing the culture, the site Associates, the brands and the assets. Strong leadership skills and high learning agility are required to focus on results, change, collaboration, problem solving, talent and engagement.

- Promotes and practices a participative management style and team building. Partners with HR to develop talent pipeline of leaders and employees within the value stream.
- Participates in overall production planning and translates plans into specific manufacturing objectives, activities, and schedules.
- Utilizes TPM Pillars and lean tools such as: Kaizen, SMED, OEE, Value Stream Mapping, etc, to drive waste out of Plant systems and improve plant performance.
- Maintains coordination of all process functions including maintenance, engineering, scheduling, supervision, and the actual manufacturing of product in a well-organized manner.
- Identifies resources (people and equipment) requirements and to develop specific plans and schedules for building the manufacturing organization.
- Responsible for the achievement of critical success factors identified in the annual business plan.
- Supervises all unit employees including appropriate staffing of unit, implementation of effective technical, managerial, and other training programs, compliance with safety policies, plant rules, unit operating procedures, quality policies, and housekeeping practices, and appropriate performance feedback.
- Responsible for and authorized to take whatever actions are necessary to prevent non-conformances relating to product, process, and quality systems.
- Participates with the plant staff in strategic planning, forecasting objective setting and prioritization of capital and expense projects.
- Create timelines, action plans, first and second level paretos, and improvement action data.
- Implements systems and procedures to ensure a capable manufacturing process, and to audit the quality of products produced. Develop a work environment that places high value on top quality products.
- Contributes to and supports safety and quality programs.
- Identifies opportunities for productivity improvement and cost reduction.
- Performs other duties as required.
- 10 years of manufacturing and or/ management experience preferred. Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles and Processes Preferred.
- 4+ years of experience as assistant plant manager or production manager.
- Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
- Background in manufacturing methods, quality control and process improvement programs, preferably in a food-related industry.
- BA/BS degree in a related field preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Directly supervises managers who in turn supervise other supervisors and employees in a production/manufacturing or support department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and results of plant operations. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, appraising and terminating employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
