Vascular Sonographer
Location: Henderson, NC
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Vascular Sonographer to join our partner hospital in Henderson, NC. This rewarding role involves performing a variety of ultrasound examinations to assist in diagnosing and monitoring vascular conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Vascular Ultrasound Examinations: Conduct peripheral vascular, venous reflux, and carotid imaging procedures following lab protocols and standard practices.
- Assist Physicians: Provide support to physicians during vein center procedures.
- Prioritize Workload: Review inpatient requisitions, prioritize patient lists based on urgency, and adjust the schedule as needed.
- Quality Control: Perform necessary quality control checks on equipment.
- Resource Management: Manage supplies for efficient room operation and ensure proper disinfection of reusable instruments.
- Patient Care: Review patient information and orders, confirm exam type and diagnosis, and clarify orders as needed.
- Image Processing: Download and enter examination images and findings into the PACS system.
- Mentorship: Mentor and evaluate ultrasound students as required.
- Communication: Effectively communicate technical and patient care information.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Graduation from a CAAHEP-approved school of ultrasound or cardiovascular technology or equivalent experience.
- Certifications/Licenses:
- Current certification by ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) in vascular technology (RVT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) upon hire or within one year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Clinical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound principles, concepts, and methodology.
- Ability to identify relevant images, differentiate between healthy and pathological areas, and tailor exams based on findings.
- Knowledge of vascular cross-sectional anatomy and pathophysiology.
- Understanding of m-mode, Doppler, and color flow characteristics.
- Ability to recognize vascular structures from various angles.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation to optimize images and troubleshoot artifacts.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot cardiovascular equipment.
- Other Skills:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
