About the Organization:
Senior Resource Association (SRA) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that provides services to support and advocate for independence and dignity of older adults throughout Indian River County. Our organization was established in 1974 to provide services and programs that promote an active, healthy, and independent lifestyle for older adults. We provide and manage the Meals on Wheels of Indian River County programs, Adult DayAway programs, In-Home Services, and Transportation for seniors and their families. With two locations in Vero Beach and Sebastian, SRA operates the only state-licensed Adult DayAway programs in the County. Our goal is to keep seniors healthy and in their own homes for as long as safely possible. Due to memory loss, brain injury, food-insecurity, and/or lack of socialization, all families have a special need for their loved one that leads them to Senior Resource Association. SRA is recognized as the lead agency in Indian River County for homebound and community-based services for seniors and adults aged 18 and older.
In addition, SRA is the county-designated public transportation provider. Our fixed-route buses provide service along 15 routes throughout Indian River County, and part of St. Lucie County. Our demand-response service picks up the elderly and disabled at their specified origination point and takes them where they need to go in the community.

Principal Responsibilities:
These are examples of the type of work performed. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind work assignments as needed.
Performs preventive maintenance on all revenue and service vehicles in the SRA Fleet. This includes vehicle inspections according to specifications outlined in the Indian River Transit Vehicle Maintenance Plan and adherence to vehicle manufacturer preventive maintenance manuals.
Vehicle and equipment repairs of mechanical failure identified on the Operator’s Daily pre/post trip reports.
Cleaning and orderly upkeep of the maintenance facility.
Assist Fleet Manager with daily repair and maintenance work.
Ensure proper change out of buses when road calls and mechanical failures occur.
Attend and assist with training and staff meetings.
Maintain a professional image and conduct to the public, including a proper, well maintained uniform while on duty.
Be knowledgeable of and maintain company rules and procedures at all times.
Generate purchase orders (with supervision), receiving tickets, filling out work orders and other reports necessary to perform essential functions of the maintenance facility.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
Physical activity includes, but is not limited to: bending, climbing, crouching, hearing, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulder, reaching below waist, reaching waist to shoulder, stooping to troubleshoot problems on vehicles and in facilities, sitting to drive vehicles, moving about facilities to ensure safety and security. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Good working knowledge of all bus systems.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Ability to make sound judgment decisions
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal relationship and teambuilding skills.
Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
Ability to work with commercial cleaners and toxic materials.
Ability to provide own tools.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, the public, coworkers, and those doing business with SRA.
License / Certifications:
Valid Florida CDL license , Class "B" with a Passenger endorsement and Airbrakes.
DOT Medical Examiner Certification
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Minimum of 2 years in vehicle maintenance
Other:
Employment with SRA requires a Level 2 Background Check and cleared Drug Screening
