Hartrick Veterinary Clinic is looking to add a wonderful, Full-Time Associate Veterinarian to join our growing Team!
Hartrick Veterinary Clinic is a full-service small animal clinic where we aim to provide the best possible medical, surgical, and dental care for our clients. We are proud to offer a comprehensive range of services including wellness exams, gastropexy, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, surgery, and dental care! We recently moved into a brand-new state-of-the-art building with all the latest equipment including a 2-table surgical suite, digital radiographs with CR system, laser therapy and in-house laboratory. Our clinic’s new open design makes working collaboratively easy. We also now have independent cat and dog exam rooms! We welcome graduating Veterinarians to start their careers here, ensuring a high-level of support and guided mentorship. All Veterinarians will find interesting, diverse, and challenging cases, with manageable caseloads and a fair Work-Life balance. Requirements:
- Licensed MI Veterinarian (active and clear)
- Experience with surgery; Soft Tissue (and orthopedic) a plus but not required
- 3 weekend shifts/month

Responsibilities:How you'll make an impact:
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
- Diagnose, perform surgery, and treat patients.
- Maintain excellent client communication.
- Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
- Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.
- Call clients for follow up and to discuss results.
- Set standards of care/protocols for medical and surgical areas.
- Maintain practice growth and review financial reports.
- Communicate clearly and accurately through written and verbal interactions.
- Work in collaboration with practice manager for administrative management.
- Deal with clients in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- Mentor team members in the training program for career advancement and personal development towards goals.
- Provide feedback and changes to the training program.
- Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well.
- Provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Ability to lead and establish a vision for the practice team.
- Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.
- Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.
- Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
- Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections.
- Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients.
- Knowledge of the common anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients.
- Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia.
- The employee must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
- To perform this job successfully it will be necessary to become proficient in the use of the practice management software.
