Position Overview:

Veterinary Assistants support all areas of the hospital. Responsibilities include assisting receptionists, helping doctors with physical exams, dispensing medications, and helping Veterinary Technicians with basic patient restraint, positioning for radiographs, preparing for surgery, providing nursing care, and conducting basic lab tests. They also ensure that examination and surgery rooms are stocked, tools are sterilized, and equipment is functional.

Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with pet owners and colleagues. Understanding animal behavior and clinical skills is crucial for assessing conditions and administering treatments. Attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary for executing instructions, documenting patient data, and updating records. A love for animals, along with the ability to comfort, handle, and restrain both large and small pets, is vital.
