The Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC-MN) is looking for a full time Veterinary Technician to add to our Anesthesia team. Role Title: Veterinary Technician: Specialties Primary
Department: Anesthesia
Shift: Day
Schedule: Fixed and semi-fixed may be available - three to four days per week Monday through Friday
- Nights, weekends and holidays are required through participating in after-hours on-call services for emergency procedures.
- Approximately scheduled three (3) weeknight shifts per month, and one weekend day every other month.
- Schedules are locked in six (6) weeks into the future, so we cannot make changes without your approval within that timeframe.

The primary function of the Veterinary Technician is to provide exceptional care of both patients and clients by serving as an extension of the veterinarian. Additionally, the Veterinary Technician is expected to promote professional growth through education and learning opportunities.

Patient Care
- Skills can be taught. We value training and professional development. You will be provided with a minimum of 16 training shifts before you're set free to save lives. These training shifts will be both on the floor and classroom-based, working closely with individuals from our professional development training team. When you succeed, we all succeed.
- You will be comfortable with the basic tasks such as IVC placement, venipuncture, bloodwork (CBC/Chem/UA), and performance of x-rays, sedated procedures, and anesthesia monitoring (ASA 1-2).
- If you have advanced skills such as central line placement, urinary catheterization, anesthesia monitoring (ASA 3-5), surgical assistance, pharmacology, physiology, and advanced imaging, you will bring a wealth of knowledge to our motivated and education-hungry team.
Qualifications for Success
- A.A.S or B.S Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA-accredited school, along with current certification, license, or registration as a Veterinary Technician required
- Two years of client service or customer support experience, in addition to at least two years of clinical practice experience if credentialed, are required
- Bonus points for certifications such as RECOVER CPR Certified and Fear Free Certified, and having a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification is highly valued
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), data entry skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and strong typing skills are essential
