Veterinary Technician - Free Home Animal Hospital, Inc.

Our two-doctor, American Animal Hospital Association ("AAHA")-accredited, small animal practice located in Canton, Georgia is looking for a full-time veterinary technician to care for our patients and assist our veterinarians. You’ll play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and peace of mind to the families who love them. A positive attitude, team-oriented work habits and a love for animals is essential. Previous veterinary technician experience is required, completion of a registered veterinary technician program is preferred but not required.  If you have a flexible schedule, work well in a fast paced environment, have impeccable attention to detail and are committed to compassionate care, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

• Clean examination tables and rooms and maintain medical equipment
• Inject medications and vaccines
• Perform both jugular and cephalic venipuncture to collect blood samples
• Administer medication as prescribed by Veterinarians
• Fill medications in the pharmacy as prescribed by Veterinarians
• Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Veterinarian
• Update medical records
• Keep accurate records and logs
• Effectively and thoroughly review treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients

Skills

• At least one year's experience working as a veterinary technician, including at least 3-6 months experience monitoring anesthesia and working as a technician in the examination room
• Experience in customer service or client communication is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team, responding with grace in stressful situations
• Computer skills, previous experience with AviMark software preferred but not required
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures and of pharmacology
• Ability to follow instructions properly
• Physically and mentally able to work efficiently in a fast paced and challenging environment
• Must be able to restrain and lift pets of all sizes, and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
• Flexible schedule, available for some weekend and holiday shifts
• Some college and/or veterinary technician certification or licensure preferred; high school diploma or GED required
