Job Summary
Progressive fast paced, small animal hospital has full-time employment opportunities available for experienced surgery/dental technicians or assistants. This position interfaces with clients, and assists in exam rooms, dentistry, and surgery. Technicians and assistants are a crucial link between clients and doctors.
Wage based on certification and experience.
Responsibilities and Duties
- The primary job of the Veterinary Technician/Assistant is to assist doctors with surgery and dentistry, including tasks that need to be completed during examinations and treatment of patients.
- Important attributes: Professional, detail-oriented, organized, able to multitask, team player, compassionate, service-oriented, good communicator, reliable.
- Daily tasks include but are not limited to:
- Prepare patients for and assist with surgery and dentistry.
- Monitor patients under anesthesia.
- Take and record medical history during exam.
- Complete write up of medical records.
- Restrain patients during exam and treatments.
- Prepare rooms for exams.
- Clean rooms after exams.
- Prepare labels and medications as director by the Doctor.
- Prepare and review estimates for procedures.
- Take radiographs.
- Record controlled drugs.
- Give vaccinations.
- Complete treatments on patients as prescribed by the Doctor.
- Educate clients about CRVC compliance.
- Keep hospital organized and clean.
- Treat hospitalized patients.
- Make follow-up phone calls.
- Schedule appointments.
- Answer phone calls.
- Compete lab tests (U/A, blood tests, etc.)
- Take blood/urine samples.
Qualifications and Skills
- We are seeking an experienced licensed or unlicensed Technician. Must have a minimum of 2 years assisting in surgery, monitoring anesthesia and have developed all skills related to dentistry (prophy, radiology, charting etc.).
- Position reports to Technician Manager and Medical Director
