This transformative, executive-level opportunity reports to the Chief Medical Officer and President, ProMedica Physician’s Group (PPG). It has direct responsibility across pharmacy operations, retail & specialty, clinical modeling, and pharmacy procurement as well as dotted line responsibility over pharmacy technology.
POSITION SUMMARY
The VP, Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) will lead the overall planning, development, implementation, supervision and administrative leadership of pharmacy programs, services, and business offerings across ProMedica. In addition, this role will lead pharmacy fiscal management, drug utilization management and pharmacy supply chain management. The VP, CPO will also collaborate with applicable executive and senior leaders, to identify new opportunities in the pharmacy space consistent with ProMedica’s strategic plan. The position will focus on implementing pharmacy operational practices and clinical models of care to ensure excellent quality, safety, service, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead, coordinate and align all aspects of pharmacy services across the system to achieve excellence in operations, clinical services, and financial performance. Ensure effective integration and standardization.
- Provide oversight and leadership of all pharmacy operations and patient care services, including pharmacy supply chain, consolidated services, business development and expansion, and education.
- Establish and maintain a pharmacy enterprise strategic plan, develop tactical initiatives to achieve that plan, and measure performance and progress toward strategic goals.
- Communicate pharmacy’s strategy, results and outcomes to other leaders and the system Pharmacy team.
- Provide financial oversight and accountability, including the identification of initiatives to grow revenue and/or lower costs. Establish and manage pharmacy operating and capital budgets, in coordination with the Finance department. Monitor and analyze financial data and utilize for decisions.
- Develop and maintain a strong pharmacy workforce to optimize the safe and efficient provision of patient care.
- Establish and assure the delivery of high value service standards throughout the pharmacy service line.

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy; Master’s degree in health-related field or business administration
Experience:
- 10 years of progressively responsible senior health-system pharmacy leadership experience
- Proven experience in developing a strategy and driving tangible results
- Proven ability to develop and elevate others to achieve team success
- Eligibility to practice as a pharmacist in either Michigan or Ohio

- Extensive knowledge of medication safety procedures and current trends in contemporary pharmacy service provision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Experience: Residency training in health system pharmacy administration
- License: Eligibility to practice as a pharmacist in both Michigan and Ohio
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Personal Protective Equipment: According to facility requirements, as determined by the location.
- Physical Demands: Moderate walking, climbing steps, lifting, bending. Potential for many assignments to be completed virtually.
