TCI is looking for our next Vice President of Accounting based in CA!
Experienced and proficient Accounting and Financial Reporting leader responsible for all aspects of the accounting team, financial reporting and business analytics for all TCI Companies (Leasing, Trucking, Brokerage & Property Management) and collaboration with operations and senior management to better understand and improve financial and operational performance. Oversight for the accounting function to ensure timely, accurate and actionable business and financial reporting to support informed decision making throughout the organization.
Primary role is to maintain efficient and effective accounting practices leading to a strong internal control structure, highly accurate and timely data collection and reporting, coaching/mentorship across the organization in regards to financial acumen (i.e. understanding financial and business reporting across operations to drive more profitable operations). Additional focus on corporate governance, treasury management and risk management functions across all legal entities.
Core Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversight for the accounting teams as lead by the three Controllers and two Directors (Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable/Billing).
- Support for external Accounting and Tax Firms including requested schedules within agreed upon timeframes and making recommendations on dividends and other critical distributions.
- Management – Hiring, Development and Retention across financial transaction teams of Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing and Payroll.
- Review and/or generation of all General Ledger Transactions for TCI Property Management Companies, Holding Companies, and Trust Related entities.
- Risk Management and Insurance Relationships: Lead role in supporting the Risk Management Program to optimize the insurance coverage for all aspects of the TCI Companies.
- Responsible for various aspects of Corporate Governance across multiple legal entities including support for State Annual Report filings, BOD Minutes, intercompany agreements, etc.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Four-year Degree in Accounting or Finance + CPA (preferred) &/or MBA (Preferred)
- 10+ Years’ experience in audit, accounting, and finance leadership
- Solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles and practices and the fundamentals of financial reporting and analysis.
- Advanced level of system acumen and experience across multiple ERP Platforms
- Proven Data Analytics skillset
- Excellent business acumen and experience in business strategy development and execution
- Passion for building organizational talent and improving overall financial acumen across the organization
