Job Summary:
The Vice President of Healthcare Economics and Actuarial Services is a senior leader responsible for guiding the organization's financial strategy through data analysis, actuarial assessments, and economic forecasting in the healthcare environment. This role involves developing insights into healthcare costs, trends, utilization, and risk to support strategic decision-making. The VP of Healthcare Economics and Actuarial Services provides critical expertise to optimize pricing, manage financial risk, and improve healthcare outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead healthcare economics and actuarial functions, developing models to project healthcare costs, utilization, and risk.
• Provide insights and strategic guidance on cost containment, pricing, and reimbursement strategies.
• Oversee the design and analysis of financial models to forecast healthcare trends, including population health, medical costs, and risk adjustment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, underwriting, clinical, and operations, to align economic strategies with business objectives.
• Analyze data to identify opportunities to improve healthcare quality, reduce costs, and enhance member outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and reporting requirements in all actuarial and economic analyses.
• Manage a team of healthcare economists, analysts, and actuaries, fostering a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making.
• Present complex actuarial and economic insights to executive leadership and key stakeholders in a clear, actionable manner.
• Drive continuous improvement in actuarial methodologies, forecasting techniques, and economic analyses.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, healthcare economics, finance, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, M.S.) preferred.
• ASA or FSA designation strongly preferred, along with 10+ years of experience in healthcare economics, actuarial science, or financial analysis.
• Extensive experience in healthcare, health insurance, or managed care, with deep understanding of healthcare cost drivers, pricing, and utilization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in actuarial software and data analysis tools.
• Proven experience in leading teams, fostering collaboration, and driving data-driven strategy.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to convey complex information to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time, executive-level position, which may require extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to support business needs and project deadlines.
