SALARY RANGE: $22.37 to $31.12 an hour
PURPOSE:
Provides video production expertise to plan, project manage, create, edit, direct and produce a wide range of creative and engaging video products, either individually or in collaboration with others, for the effective promotion of the corporation and its programs and capabilities. Offers solid understanding of video production techniques and trends i.e., video formats, color grading, storyboarding, scripting, voiceovers, musical selection, video content marketing and branding, and audience engagement etc., as well as mature competence and skills with video equipment i.e., video and photography cameras, editing software programs, microphones and lighting packages etc., for effective video development activities, which results in videos that accomplish key planned objectives.
Responsibilities:Video Project Management and Development
- Collaborates and contributes to processes to track and plan video projects from beginning to end.
- Sends weekly project reports to the manager on statuses of various video projects being developed.
- Meets with customers to discuss and advise on video needs and best formats and approaches to take with video project deliverables.
- Serves as project manager for all video assignments under their purview, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget-conscious development and implementation of video projects.
- Partners with the group manager and stakeholders to ensure finished video deliverables meet project objectives while adhering to branding guidelines and compliance requirements if necessary.
- Works with our transcript service provider for 508 compliant transcripts of all video titles.
- Ensures video projects are posted to applicable web sites and video delivery sites (i.e. Youtube, Vimeo, etc.), if appropriate, including collaborating with the web team members when needed.
- Serves as one of the custodians of Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) and Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), and client Vimeo and YouTube accounts.
- Maintains acceptable level of knowledge and understanding of video best practices and latest techniques to ensure expertise in an ever-changing industry.
- Participates in regular training on video equipment and video editing software to maintain and grow technical skills.
- Ensures appropriate archiving and file management of videos developed and helps manage ORAU’s video archive.
- Makes recommendations and requests for new and refreshed video equipment and tools, as needed.
- Coordinates stakeholder access to b-roll and audio libraries and serves as custodian of those libraries.
- Schedules, coordinates, and collaborates with freelance videographers, outside vendors, or videographers at other client facilities or sites, when needed.
- Answers requests for providing video files for various needs.
- Provides input to Communications and Marketing (CM) management for video estimates for customers.
- Maintains all assigned cameras and video equipment to ensure good working order.
Videography, Editing, and Direction/Production
- Provides creative visualization and direction for all video projects assigned.
- Collaborates on and contributes to the research, writing and development of draft content for storyboards and video scripts.
- Scouts’ appropriate sites for video shoot planning.
- Researches and obtains appropriate audio tracks or special effects content to complement videos and ensuring proper copyright adherence.
- Prepares for and shoots all video titles, including shooting interviews, b-roll, and capturing natural sound, etc.
- Manages selection and coordination of video voicework, including voice talent for voiceovers.
- Assists with selection and coordination of talent for photos and video shoots.
- Edits video content and manages postproduction needs of video productions, using latest video editing and production software.
- Shoots videos and photographs to support digital products.
- Travels to sites for videography work.
- Directs and produces all video projects assigned under their purview.
- Coordinates customer review and approvals of draft video projects and handles all edits and revisions necessary to complete projects.
Webinar Support and Production
- Serves as a team member of onsite technical producers for requested and assigned webinars, virtual meetings, and other meeting productions in the CM-managed facilities such as ORAU’s MC-100 Classroom and the Pollard Technology Conference Center.
- Ensures meeting software is working properly, presentations or other materials can be appropriately displayed through webinar software programs, audiences can see and hear, participates freely in meetings and webinars, and that these productions are otherwise delivered successfully. Works with Information Technology Services (ITS) infrastructure support, when needed.
- Provides real-time troubleshooting of webinar issues or any problems with equipment or meeting software.
- Serves as an expert, providing sound counsel and planning insights for webinar and meeting organizers.
- Ensures meetings are recorded, when approved and appropriate, and recordings are appropriately managed, posted and distributed per ORAU policy.
Audio/Visual Special Projects
- Serves as an advisor and contributor on technical audio/visual special projects such as drone-based photography and videography, audio and video fieldwork, b-roll capture as component of planned photoshoots, special video edits and compilations, video clips for social media, video animation, archiving and tagging of audio and video digital assets, MC-100 Classroom and Pollard Technology Conference Center audio/video capabilities, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in communications or public relations (e.g., Visual Communications, Video Production, Marketing, Advertising, or Business) and 0-3 years of job-related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience requiring similar knowledge, skills, abilities, and performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
This individual must have:
- Strong, practical video direction and production experience.
- Problem-solving skills and capable of quickly resolving issues that arise during production, whether they are technical, logistical or interpersonal.
- Knowledge about video production, lighting, and editing techniques and processes.
- Knowledge of tools used for video production and webinar management (video cameras, Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras, microphones, switchers, editing tools, etc.,).
- Solid knowledge of Teams, Zoom, GoToMeeting, Vimeo, Facebook Live, Instagram, YouTube, Webex as well as other virtual meeting platforms.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate and work productively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Microsoft Office
- The person must have had the experience necessary to have developed an exceptional customer service attitude.
Beginning to Moderate level software experience with the following video editing software:
- Final Cut Pro X and supporting programs.
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Audition, etc.,)
- DaVinci Resolve

*The candidate’s starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate’s qualifications to determine salary.
