Course Description:
In Video Production Camp, campers produce, direct, light, shoot and edit like the experts. They complete exercises and projects which culminate in their own original short movie. Students will learn to utilize titles, graphics, music, Special Effects, and live-action video while developing leadership, communication, project management, creative design, and technical skills.
Students work in a lab equipped with computers and Adobe Creative Suite software as they shoot and edit their own movies. Instructors guide students through an exciting, hands-on educational experience. The students will use cutting-edge video technology for cameras, lighting, and editing software to produce an industry-level production.
From Day one, campers learn some of the basics of shooting quality footage and industry terms. On the second day students then begin to plan their movie project which will be shot and edited during the remainder of the week and plunge into editing as campers begin to produce their project. Throughout the week, the complexity of the projects grows along with the student’s skills and knowledge, developed through a fast-paced mix of instruction and exercises. Students provide peer feedback and the teacher leads critiques of the project as the students improve their videos with formative assessment.
The week culminates in a screening of the students’ movies for an audience of fellow campers, family, and friends. Each student will receive a digital copy of their work and a handbook/manual which contains the information that was covered in the course for future reference.
