Primary Purpose:
Performs all standard and complex inspection duties on steel castings using special fixtures, bore scope, fiber optics, calipers, gauges, micrometers, etc. to check for casting flaws and defects, under general supervision, consistent with established and accepted standards of quality and quantity.

Primary Purpose:
Performs all standard and complex inspection duties on steel castings using special fixtures, bore scope, fiber optics, calipers, gauges, micrometers, etc. to check for casting flaws and defects, under general supervision, consistent with established and accepted standards of quality and quantity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organizes materials, tools, measuring devices, etc., necessary to complete assigned jobs and checks all documentation (travelers, special instructions, etc.,) which is available.
- Performs visual inspection of castings using bore scope and fiber optic, as necessary, to check for broken cores, shrinkage, incomplete welds, cracks, pits, and other surface defects.
- Verifies dimensions of castings using gauges, micrometers, veneers, snap calipers, ultrasonic thickness gauges, etc., to help ensure compliance with prescribed customer specifications.
- Performs "hot inspection" responsibilities for designated castings by expediting such castings throughout the production process performing inspection duties, as quickly as possible, and by performing production-related duties including rapping, pulling wires, sawing, benching, etc.
- Uses hand grinders and other tools and equipment to make minor repairs and correct minor defects.
- Initiates NMR's (Nonconforming Material Report) to help ensure defective castings are routed to the proper department for repair.
- Maintains accurate records and files of inspection results in a manner that provides for easy access.
- Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development
- Maintain a clean, organized work area
- Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures
- Ability to work overtime

- Ability to work at the City of Industry facility
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Prior industry experience preferred.
- Must be organized, efficient, pay close attention to detail, and multi-task.
- Requires good communication and problem-solving skills and be ability to work well with others.
- High school level math, including algebra required.
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be able to stand all day.
- Previous work experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
- Compliance with general company attendance standard is required.
- HS diploma or equivalent GED required, but candidates not meeting this requirement who possesses relevant experience will be considered.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Solid job history including more than 1 year at previous or recent employer.
- The job is performed under reasonably good working conditions.
Schedule:
- 2nd shift, Monday-Friday {$1.00 Shift differential)
