About the Job
The VMI Planner is responsible for maintaining and monitoring inventory levels of make-to-stock finished goods at outside warehouses. Creates forecasts for customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from customers, sales, marketing, finance, and other sources.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzes inventory levels and product demand to determine the amount of finished product to produce.
- Creates rolling forecasts for vendor managed inventories using sales history and customer feedback.
- Determines the best metrics to use to provide the most accurate representation of the forecast.
- Works with customers and other departments to determine optimal inventory levels.
- Regularly communicates with VMI customers as it relates to demand and supply balancing, aged inventory, and general customer requests.
- Generates supply chain reports.
- Plans and manages supply/replenishment orders in SAP systems.
- Prepares and maintains relevant reports pertaining to demand planning process.
JOB SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
- 3-5 years of experience in demand planning, master planning, operations, customer service and or business development.
- Demonstrated proficiency in statistics and forecasting methods with an understanding of financial and operational impacts.
- Experience with forecasting and demand planning software is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and facilitation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the forecast process.
- Some travel required.
SECONDARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides input to volume planning.
- Closely coordinates and communicates customer action plans with supply planning.
