Position Summary:
The primary job function of the Director of Commercial Sales Development is to lead a team of Commercial Sales Development Representatives in driving profitable growth in the Company’s commercial lines of business. This national sales position is responsible for the development and execution of short and long term sales strategies for growing and penetrating key commercial line markets.
Essential Job Functions:
• Accountable for profitable growth and premium development of commercial business at the national level.
• Sets and executes the sales development strategy for the commercial lines of business company wide.
• Develops, motivates, and leads the Commercial Sales Development Team to influence and drive desirable agency behavior.
• Provides recommendations to the Commercial Cross-Functional Team regarding market conditions, service levels, and effectiveness of Company programs.
• Actively participates and provides ideas and thought leadership to the broader Commercial Leadership team.
• Reviews and monitors agent production, loss ratios, and behaviors to make improvements, modifications in managing agencies including canceling agency appointments where warranted. Ensures agencies are monitored and developed and responsible for new commercial agency appointments from the team to assure growth targets are achieved.
• Ensures the business written by agents meets the program’s eligibility and underwriting guidelines and is spread across eligible/desirable segments.
• Executes an effective administration of the Company’s agency compensation strategy and structure.
• Demonstrates the ability to build partnerships with other business groups to identify and initiate multiple product solutions.
• Collaborates with Underwriting, Product Management, Claims, and other departments to coordinate and ensure proper operations and support for new agent partnerships.
• Actively participate in management of key agent relationships to ensure distribution channel alignment with business needs.
•Perform other functions as assigned.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS)
• 8+ years of insurance sales experience
• Previous successful experience leading a sales team
Knowledge and Skills:
• Proven leadership experience.
• Sales experience and/or proficient product knowledge in Business Auto and Commercial Multi-Peril required.
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) designation preferred.
• Must have general knowledge of regulatory requirements regarding licensing, rating, and other legal aspects of insurance.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate and build relationships with agency staff and internal employees.
• Advanced negotiating and mediating skills to achieve resolutions and support Company policies. Requires the ability to coordinate and motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timelines and simultaneously manage several projects.

Pay Range:USD $137,363.00 - USD $247,680.00 /Yr.
