About the Job
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Cultivate an environment in which employees respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics and all employees are treated fairly and valued equally
· Ensure dispatching functions at the ARDC and company-wide are performed in a safe, efficient, and collaborative manner with the regions and roads
· Develop processes to assist field leaders in monitoring train movement and conditions affecting movement such as weather conditions, train crew availability, engine and equipment availability, track warrants, track bulletins, general orders, timetables, and track and speed restrictions; ensure safety and performance; coordinate responses to unplanned events and emergency situations
· Ensure various administrative duties relative to hours of service requirements, hazardous materials, documentation of train movements, FRA reporting, and reporting of rule violations are performed
· Support corporate safety and compliance initiatives
· Provide leadership for the ARDC to improve the overall safety performance and communication with field leadership
· Support and improve public safety image
· Enforce Transportation Appearance Policy with entire staff
· Actively engage in company safety culture
· Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
· Five to ten years of relevant work experience; at least ten years of relevant work experience (railroad/transportation and train-dispatching experience) preferred
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred, or at least eight years of equivalent leadership experience
