Position Overview
Reporting to the SVP, Performance Group, the VP, Logistics Performance will be responsible for leading, sustaining, and evolving AMAT’s Logistics Performance Management strategy and continuous improvement efforts. In addition, they will lead and guide multi-year logistics programs, to drive execution of the strategy. Other duties include capability building, acquisition due diligence, performance process and system implementation, training program implementation, and the identification, evaluation and sharing of enterprise innovations and leading practices.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
This is a key leadership position that will have the opportunity to work in a highly visible role to guide the growth of AMAT’s Logistics Program.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Collaborate with business leadership, and logistics steering committee, to develop and implement a logistics performance management strategy to improve operational efficiency across multiple lines of business (aggregates, asphalt and ready-mix) and multiple transportation modes (truck, rail and marine)
- Actively help shape the development and rollout of logistics performance framework, including assessments, tools, processes, and best practices, to support continuous improvement across the business
- Establish metrics, benchmarks, and goals to monitor and evaluate performance improvement initiatives
- Conduct regular assessments, training and workshops to enhance employee skills and promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring effective implementation and execution of improvements plans
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to build and implement technology and analytics roadmaps, while providing guidance on the organization’s transportation systems and technology
- Prepare and present performance improvement reports and recommendations to business leadership
- Monitor industry trends and best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and performance enhancement
- Work on ad hoc projects as directed
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Ability to drive results in a highly decentralized organization, through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training, coaching, and group facilitation
- Strong ability to gain trust and create alignment across the organization to help drive the performance strategy
- Experience in building trust and coaching a diverse team of operational and commercial leaders
- Experience in performing diagnostic reviews to identify improvement opportunities and value
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or other related fields; MBA preferred
- Experience as a Program Manager with strong change management skills
- Minimum of 7 years in key logistics or supply chain role with multi-unit operations
- Working knowledge of established business processes, KPIs, performance reports and dashboards.

- Ability to work on various manufacturing plant environments and construction sites.

- Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear
- May require standing for extended periods of time
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to hold weights of 5-10lbs in a stretched arm position for extended periods of time
- Able to climb ladders or stairs and to work at heights
- Able to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time
Work Environment
- Normal office working conditions in addition to industrial plant sites and quarries, requiring the usage of personal protective equipment, e.g., hard hat, steel-toed boots, and safety glasses.
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to drive up to 8 hours for onsite services and meetings.
- The position may require work outside of normal business hours in response to critical incidents or business-impacting project deliverables.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud but is typically moderate.
